reducing security costs, preparing for emergency
situations, and protecting classified materials.
Destruction Procedures
Destruction of classified material maybe done
only by authorized means and by two persons
cleared to the level of the material being
destroyed.
Give classified material awaiting destruction the
same protection you would give the information
it contains. Safeguard burn bags at the same level
of classification of the materials the burn bags
contain until they are completely destroyed.
Record the destruction of Top Secret and
Secret materials on the Classified Material
Destruction Report, OPNAV Form 5511/12 (fig,
9-12). You may record the destruction on any
