Thissupport includes the missiles, platforms, and associatedequipment; security; training of personnel; and theinstallation and direction of necessary supportingfacilities.Naval Computer and Telecommunica-tions Command.—Commander, Naval Computerand Telecommunications Command’s(COMNAVCOMTELCOM) mission is to organize,train, and equip computer and telecommunicationsactivities. These activities provide quality informationsystems and services to the fleet, support commands,and higher authority as well as manage, process, andtransfer information for command, control, andadministration of the Navy.Naval Meteorology and OceanographyCommand.—Commander, Naval Meteor-ology and Oceanography Command’s(COMNAVMETOCCOM) mission is to collect,interpret, and apply atmospheric and oceanic data andinformation for safety at sea; strategic and tacticalwarfare; and weapons system design, development anddeployment. The command provides meteorological,oceanographic, and mapping, charting and geodesyservices to increase the effectiveness of our Navy both inpeacetime and in war.Office of Naval Intelligence.—Director, Office ofNaval Intelligence (ONI) oversees the DoN's intelligenceand security requirements and responsibilities.Chief of Naval Education and TrainingCommand.—Chief of Naval Education and Training(CNET) is responsible for assigned shore-basededucation and training of Navy, certain Marine Corps,and other personnel. Education and training effortssupport the fleet, naval shore establishment, NavalReserve, security assistance program, and interservicetraining programs. CNET also develops specificeducation and training afloat programs for the fleet andcontrols Navy support for youth programs. Thiscommand acts as the DoD agent for the Defense Activityfor Nontraditional Education Support (DANTES) andexecutes the Navy's responsibility for dependents'education. CNET takes part in research and developmentactivities to develop and carry out the most effectiveteaching and training systems and devices.Naval Doctrine Command.—Commander, NavalDoctrine Command (COMNAVDOCCOM) is theprimary authority for the development of naval conceptsand integrated naval doctrine and is charged withdevelopment and evaluation of Navy service specificpolicy and strategy.Naval Security Group Command.—Commander,Naval Security Group Command(COMNAVSECGRUCOM) provides, operates, andmaintains an adequate naval security group. It approvesrequirements for the use of existing naval security groupcapabilities and resources and coordinates the executionof approved cryptologic programs.Naval Legal Service Command.—Commander,Naval Legal Service Command(COMNAVLEGSVCCOM) administers the legalservice program within the Navy and provides commanddirection for all Naval Legal Service Command activitiesand resources.Naval Space Command.—Commander, NavalSpace Command (COMNAVSPACECOM) providesdirect space systems support to naval forces and helpsprepare the naval service for larger space systemsinvolvement. This command supports the coordinatedmission and hardware development for future spaceactivities. It commands and supports the naval spacesystems, including surveillance, environmentalmonitoring, communications, and navigation, in supportof national maritime strategy.Naval Safety Center.—Commander, Naval SafetyCenter (COMNAVSAFECEN) enhances the war-fighting capability of the Navy and Marines by armingour Sailors, marines and civilians with the knowledgethey need to save lives and preserve resources. Thismission is accomplished by investigating and advocatingnew methods, technology, and initiatives to improve thesafety process and by setting naval safety policy.
