USE OF THE DIAL TELEPHONES Good telephone technique starts with answering your telephone as promptly as possible. Don’t let it ring several times while you finish what you are doing. After lifting the receiver, you should speak immediately to the person calling. Identify yourself when answering the telephone; usually the person making the call will tell you who is calling. This procedure puts the conversation on a business-like basis and eliminates that hazy feeling one has when unsure of the identity of the person on the other end.
